We are now well established at Gaby’s mothers house in Münchwilen Switzerland. Both Grace and Mark were reluctant travelers when it came time to fly back to NZ from Singapore but both School and university were calling and they arrived back in Te Anau to the wind and rain. Fortunately both Gaby and I arrived in Switzerland to the start of the summer and we have enjoyed a week of hot summer weather. Kevin arrived on Monday 8th and we have been managing out time with jobs around the house, cycling and watching the Tour de France.
The weather has been spectacular, coming from the New Zealand winter this has taken some getting used to. Temperatures are in the high 20’s everyday and the humidity has also been high. The only rain we have had was a brief shower when cycling through Germany on Saturday.
The week has been filled in with completing the demolition of the greenhouse and removal of the carport roof, a trip to Basel and a few bike rides in the area (of course, getting Swiss customs to release a set of wheels was your typical European bureaucracy…). Construction of the new carport roof will start when we return from France as well as the ongoing ‘stocktake’ of the wine cellar.
We had a great trip to Basel and included a visit to the Basel Munster (cathedral), Merian Garden and dinner at the Pizzeria Molino. The trip back to Munchwilen involved a sprint at the railway station (SBB), you can be asurred the trains run to the minute in Switzerland.

On Monday 15 July 2013 we head to the French Alps for the definitive stages of the Tour de France.
The report and photos on the 2013 Tour de france are shown on the separate post, this was a great event and well worth the time to go and view. We have added some recent photos from the Berner Oberland and Zermatt, off to France on Monday and will update on our return.
